A group of friends often finds themselves laughing and joking as they scroll through group photos, each reacting to how they look. Some might love their pose, while others cringe at an unexpected expression. It can take several attempts to capture a shot where everyone is happy with their look.
A similar scene unfolded at a bachelorette party in Scotland. The women were celebrating by taking pictures near a lake, unaware that one photo would reveal an unexpected “guest.”
One summer, ten young women, including the bride-to-be, traveled to a remote Scottish estate for a weekend getaway. They stayed at The Coylet Inn, a historic inn dating back to 1650, located on Loch Eck in Argyll. With lush forests and a vast lake surrounding it, the setting offered a scenic and secluded spot perfect for their festivities.
As the evening rolled on, the women posed by the lake, capturing memories together. But when they reviewed the photos later, they noticed something unsettling. In one of the group pictures, they counted eleven people instead of ten. A small boy was visible in the bottom left corner, looking directly at the group.
The boy was a complete mystery to them—no one had seen him that evening or at the inn. Yet there he was, clearly visible in the photo, seemingly having appeared out of nowhere. This discovery unnerved the women, especially when they learned more about the inn’s eerie history.
According to local lore, a young boy had once lived at the inn with his mother. He was known to sleepwalk, and one tragic night, he wandered down to the lake while still asleep. Sadly, he drowned, and his body was found the next day, lifeless and pale by the water’s edge. When the women realized the boy in their photo resembled the tragic figure from this tale, they were too shaken to spend another night at the inn.
This haunting photo surfaced on Reddit in August 2018, where it quickly drew attention. A user named Marcusps1 posted the eerie image, captioning it, “This was taken in the middle of an estate in Scotland—no other people around, especially not young kids/little men.”
