As the meal progressed, it became evident that Mr. Liu did not share Miss Zhang’s view of what constituted generosity. Unwilling to accept this outcome, Miss Zhang decided to take legal action against Mr. Liu, feeling betrayed by how the blind date had unfolded. The court, however, ruled that Mr. Liu was only responsible for paying 1,400 yuan of the total bill, a fraction of the overall cost.
