Princess Lilibet’s Third Birthday: King Charles’ Thoughtful Gesture Amid Royal Family Tensions

During Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, Princess Lilibet had only one brief meeting with her grandfather, King Charles. However, King Charles made sure to mark her birthday with a special gift.

According to royal expert Tom Quinn, King Charles thoughtfully selected a unique present for Princess Lilibet to celebrate her third birthday. The celebration took place over the weekend at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s residence in Montecito, California. They hosted a grand party with close friends, but the ongoing tension within the Royal Family was apparent, as many prominent members were noticeably absent.

Although King Charles did not receive an invitation to the party, he didn’t let that stop him from acknowledging his granddaughter’s special day. He sent her a heartfelt note along with a birthday present. Quinn revealed, “King Charles sent a gift and a message because he didn’t want to completely ignore Lilibet’s birthday.”

The royal expert also mentioned that King Charles has a particular gift in mind for Lilibet that he intends to save for a future time when the family discord has eased. “He hopes to give Lilibet something similar to what he gave Prince George—a beautiful hand-made wooden swing with his name engraved on it,” Quinn explained. “But this year wasn’t the right time, given the current family tensions. Meghan has set strict boundaries on what gifts can be accepted, which has limited the king’s options.”

Despite the absence of Royal Family members, the party was attended by several celebrities, including Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry. Harry and Meghan opted for a more intimate yet star-studded celebration rather than focusing heavily on material gifts. Perry and Bloom were there with their daughter Daisy, who is just a few months older than Lilibet.

The guest list also featured well-known figures like Ellen DeGeneres, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Oprah Winfrey, all of whom are neighbors of the couple. Remarkably, no one from the Royal Family was invited to the event. Quinn noted, “It’s surprising that no members of the Royal Family received invitations to Lilibet’s party, given her status as a royal.”
